Good to know before you install
Vane has no login of its own, so keep it private or turn on Authelia; it needs SearXNG and Ollama to answer.

There's no step-by-step guide for Vane here yet. Everything below comes straight from the app catalogue, so it's what LibrePortal really does when you install it. For using Vane itself, its own documentation is the place to go: github.com/ItzCrazyKns/Vane.
Addresses and ports#
Vane has one port. LibrePortal picks a free port number for each when you install, so yours will differ from anyone else's. The Config tab's Network section shows them, and the app's Open button uses the right one.
| What it is | Who can reach it | With a domain |
|---|---|---|
| Web Interface | Trusted places only | vane.your-domain |
Settings#
These are Vane's own settings on its Config tab. The settings every app shares, like backups, updates and where its data lives, are explained in App pages and settings.
| Setting | What it does | Starts as |
|---|---|---|
| Ollama Model | The model fetched into Ollama for answers. Empty fetches none. | llama3.2:3b |
In its config file#
A few more aren't on the Config tab yet. They live in the app's config file, described here so you know they exist. How to change them.

Works with#
These are the other apps Vane knows how to work with. Once it's installed, its page shows the same list with whether each one is connected. How this works.
- Web search: Searches the web through SearXNG, so your questions are not tied to you. LibrePortal sets this up by itself when both are installed.
- Answers: Writes its answers with a model running on this server. LibrePortal sets this up by itself when both are installed.
- Grafana: Shows dashboards for the apps that have one. works with every app
- Prometheus: Collects metrics from the apps that can export them. works with every app
- Uptime Kuma: Watches your apps and shows when one goes down. works with every app
Privacy and security#
All clear Vane is an AI search assistant. It uses your own search server and your own AI model, so nothing goes to outside AI companies unless you add them yourself.
What leaves this server#
Nothing leaves this server on its own.
What LibrePortal turns off#
Nothing needed switching off.
